A Step towards combating drug and substance misuse in Masvingo Province!!

My Age Africa recently collaborated with the Masvingo Province Drug and Substance Abuse Committee in a youth march aimed at fostering safer communities and raising awareness about the escalating threat of drug abuse. The march, a significant initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training, underscored the importance of collective responsibility in addressing this critical issue.
The procession commenced at Chesvingo Business Centre (Sisk), proceeding through Mucheke Shopping Centre, and culminating at Mucheke Stadium. This strategic route ensured strong community participation and visibility, effectively amplifying the message of the campaign. The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from local residents, demonstrating a unified front against substance abuse.
Hon. E.R. Chadzamira, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. His address resonated deeply with the audience, particularly his poignant statement: “When young people stumble, do not treat them as criminals.”
This powerful message emphasized the necessity of adopting compassionate and rehabilitative approaches when dealing with youth challenges, advocating for support and understanding rather than punitive measures. The Minister’s words served as a reminder that addressing substance abuse requires a holistic strategy that prioritizes rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
