My Age Africa recently concluded a comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) program for 20 Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) champions hailing from both rural and urban Masvingo. This initiative underscores My Age Africa’s commitment to enhancing access to accurate SRHR information and dispelling prevalent myths and misconceptions surrounding contraception.
The core objective of the training was to equip young individuals with the requisite knowledge and skills to effectively empower their peers. By employing a peer-to-peer model for sexual and reproductive health information dissemination, the program seeks to create a sustainable network of informed advocates within the Masvingo community.
The ToT program covered a range of critical topics, ensuring that the SRHR champions are well-versed in all aspects of sexual and reproductive health. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, case studies, and group discussions designed to foster a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in promoting SRHR.
My Age Africa believes that investing in young people is paramount to achieving meaningful progress in SRHR. By empowering these 20 SRHR champions, the organization is laying the foundation for a more informed and healthier generation in Masvingo.
The peer-to-peer model will facilitate the dissemination of accurate information, challenge harmful cultural norms, and ultimately improve the sexual and reproductive health outcomes of young people in the region.
